Where to buy Mallorca Property For Sale
When looking to buy property in Mallorca, you may be searching for a quiet village location and a luxury country house or Finca? Alternatively, you may wish to find a real smart city / town Apartment in Palma to furnish with all mod cons, plasma, LCD TV etc etc? Either way, location will be as important to you as property size or type. Your choice of location will of course be driven by your buying criteria. If you are moving to the Balearic Islands for your retirement, then an apartment close to the beach on a busy resort may not be your ideal property. Look carefully at all of the options available on the Island. Most resort towns such as Cala d'Or or Cala Bona, though on opposite sides of the Island, will, as popular beach holiday resorts, come with their fair share of hotels, car rental dealers, shopping areas, stores and apartment complexes. You may of course choose to buy on Mallorca because you are fed up with renting vacation homes year after year. Paying rental prices if, like so many others, you have fallen in love with the Island can become quite a costly and painful exercise! The upside of buying on the coast, is that you will never be far away from some of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches in the mediterranean, where with your purchase you are sure to share some of the best temperatures with a cooling sea breeze and if you choose carefully, just a handful of visiting tourists. Townhouses, can present a much different lifestyle choice. For property hunters seeking more sedate locations, then try looking for housing a little more in-land. Whilst towns such as Arta, Sineu or Binissalem may have their differences, you won't have any trouble finding a quieter side of Town if you aren't the neighbourly type. Either way, most towns, such as Arta provide as much social interaction as you want. All usually have a decent number of restaurants to dine out at and some enjoy festivals at various times of the year. It is always advisable to check the calendar of events for any location you are considering buying a home in, otherwise you may miss out on all the fun. There are, of course many rural locations in Mallorca where Villa's, villas with pools, or fincas can be found in smaller numbers. Depending on the type of construction, building or land plot you may be looking for, there are quite a few tucked - away locations where you can find that perfect spot. One such rural location is the Tramuntana mountain territory in West Majorca. Here and in nearby locations you will find more rural villages / towns such as Deia, which is set out like a nature reserve on an island, along with other beautiful places in the shape of Valldemossa and Sa Dragonera. We at balearicislandproperty.com advise that you do your research carefully. Painstaking as it might seem, it is not actually that difficult to filter the number of locations down to a just a few if you have a really clear idea of the type of lifestyle you are looking for. If you need any assistance or have any questions for us, then don't hesitate to get in touch. We will, of course, be only too pleased to help you.
balearicislandproperty.com also provides a useful directory of tradesmen, services and amenities within each location. One such example are our pages for restaurants which can be found by location here:

Balearic Islands (Illes Balears)
The Balearic Islands are an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, near the eastern coast of Spain. There are four large islands, of which the largest is Majorca, followed by Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera. There are also a small group of islands called Cabrera which are mainly uninhabited. The archipelago forms an autonomous community of which the capital city is Palma de Mallorca. There are also other large towns: Alcudia (Majorca), Cuitadella and Mao (Minorca) and Eivissa (Ibiza).
The official languages are Spanish and Catalan but there are three other languages: Mallorqui, Menorqui and Eivissenc.
There are three international airports. One in Palma Mallorca, one in Mao Menorca and another in Eivissa Ibiza (which also serves Formantera). There are also a few private air fields. There are a number of ports across the islands which make it very easy to move between the Balearic Islands and to and from the mainland.
The population of the Balearic Islands is just over one million but the islands receive in excess of 20,000,000 visitors, (including second home owners), per year that arrive on the islands to profit from the long hot summers, short mild winters and the very pleasant, spring and autumn seasons that the islands have to offer.
